THE MAGIC OF FASHION
Are we born strong, or is it a choice? Or, do we have no choice but to be strong? I find myself reaching for my Sensitive Gangsta necklace often these days as I navigate the ups and downs of life. It both reminds me of my strength, and gives me strength when I need it.
Getting dressed in the morning is a series of choices to set the mood for my day. Sweatpants send one message to my brain. Leopard print silk pants tell my brain a whole other story. I choose the latter. At least I try to, as often as possible. Even if my only meeting that day is with myself! LOL.
Speaking of leopards, you have to see The Leo ring with green gems. This was a special request, and I am loving these stones as an option for any of the LITZI moissanite pieces. Love the bling. Message me if you want more details!
There is something magical about the transformative power of fashion and jewellery that amazes me. I had a teammate in university who always made bold choices that made you do a double take. Compared to my staple of jogging pants and t-shirts (which I still love BTW), I couldn’t understand why she would bother…especially when we often had 6AM practice and were exhausted. When I told her that I dress to reflect how I feel, I’ll never forget what she told me: that she dressed for how she wanted to feel. There is a lot of truth to her POV.
I think we can derive so much power from colours, textures, symbols and words. That we can tap into new emotions just by stimulating our eyes and hearts. The same applies to the fresh tulips on my kitchen table. The weather may be in flux, but those tulips never falter. Every time I look at them, I smile in my mind. It’s the littlest thing…and yet…in the front seat of life’s rollercoaster…that inner smile is literally everything.
I try to conjure that same magic when I design jewellery. To adorn us in the feels. To help us feel happy and uplift our spirits.
Bust out that perfume. Decorate with fresh flowers. Put on that bright lipstick. Light that special candle. Wear the nice undies! Take time for your favourite meditation. You don’t have to justify it! Don’t just save it for your guests. Spoiler: The queen isn’t coming to dinner! Appreciate all that beauty now, for yourself. Fill your cup.
Happiness is a flex, a muscle we can strengthen. Reach for it at every turn. Take in as much as you can. It should be a habit, not a “treat”.
As the energy transitions and flowers bloom, take a nod from mother nature and show off all your colours. Delight yourself! There is nothing frivolous about the power of beauty when you reach for it intentionally. It’s self-preservation. It’s a matter of life and dress!
