I hope your holidays allowed you to unplug, relax and get back in touch with yourself and your loved ones that fuel you. As we slowly get back into the rhythm of real life, I find myself thinking about my energy. I seem to arrive at the end of a year close to burnout. I feel like a different person now. Why does that happen? Can I prevent it? Can I get more intentional and selective about where I put my energy?
I know we are bombarded with quotes, mantras and advice on social media, and much of it can seem like platitudes. But — I think that the right words, and the right stories, can play a helpful tune on the record of our minds.
I decided to make an intention board. I asked myself “Where do I want to be three years? What do I want a Tuesday to look like?” I plotted my personal goals and intentions for 2026 and curated energizing visuals for them. I printed it out and taped it to the wall next to my desk. I am a quote lover. I find that the right words can change my mood, my vibe and my day. I have to be really selective and purposeful with how I talk to myself. I used stickers and post it notes when I was an athlete. Now, I turn the words I need into jewellery. Hope. Empathy. Muse. Work In Progress. Lucky Bitch. Give Them Hell. Fuck it. And our latest collab that we designed together — Sensitive Gangsta. These words are touchstones that bring me back to myself.
I decided that this year protection is my word. “Your energy is your currency, so spend it wisely.” Isn’t that what they say? I believe this is true and I want to spend my energy wisely. I don’t want distractions to get in the way of my dreams.
