How do you care for yourself? I don’t mean the aesthetic upkeep dictated by beauty standards. I mean, taking pause to reflect, to ask yourself what you truly need in this moment? What comes up for you?
My goal this year is to prioritize feeling good in my body. To drink more herbal tea. To take the exercise class that make my body feel amazing. To sprinkle happy makers around my space so I feel uplifted. To consistently set boundaries. (It’s not easy for me!) Self-care is more than a buzzword, it’s real. If you don’t slow down and let yourself rest, your body will force you to slow down. It can be hard to rest, to winter…but we need time to be dormant. To let the seeds sleep. We all need to put our devices down and embrace stillness…after you read this lol!
Whatever you need, it takes self-awareness to really figure it out. It may take a burnout to learn that it really matters. Noone is going to do it for you. What I hope for you, my friend, is that you are generous with yourself. Whatever that may look like. Drink water. Light a candle. Breath. Meditate. Stretch. Write. Do the work-out, even if it is only for 10 minutes. Go for a walk. Crochet a blanket and channel your inner-granny! Paint a water-colour landscape. Surround yourself with beautiful things. Put on jewellery that reminds you that your most important love story, is the one you have with yourself. We are the hero of our own story, and even heroes need love, and rest. The adventure awaits, and we want to feel good enough to jump right in.
