Begin Where YOU Are

I just had a great girl’s weekend in New York. I saw one of my favourite Irish singers, Lisa Hannigan. As she sang to the audience, I literally cried! I was so moved by the beauty of her voice and deeply personal songwriting.

The whole trip was one long chat as we ate incredible food. The rain poured and when we couldn’t take our soaking wet feet anymore, we warmed our toes under the blankets in our hotel beds, on a delicious break from the whirlwind of the city.

Now, it’s a few days later and I’m puddle deep in reality. Last minute renos. Family stuff. Limited energy with countless plans for the Easter long weekend. I also have a running mental checklist for my son’s birthday party next week. I love it all — I’m just spinning a little. And I think I’m getting a f*@king cold.

My beautiful son Leo turns 10 next week. We are hosting a soccer themed party. He’s so excited! Almost as excited as he was when he learned that I named The Leo Ring after him. The two leopards, bejewelled in moissanite, will adorn your hand as you sip your cocktail. It’s a statement piece. A real conversation starter. But also — an expression of the fierce and wild being that you are.

As I write this note to you, I think about how life changes like the weather. I think about all the plans I have and all the checklists in my mind. Where do you even start?

You begin where you are. You navigate the weather as best you can. You are doing great.

Just don’t forget to warm your feet under the blankets when you need a break…and pack an umbrella.

Happy Birthday my sweet and fierce Leo!
